In one sense the Diocese is a very simple reality – it is the group of people who share the Catholic faith and live in a specific area. In another sense it is a very complex organisation which manages considerable resources of all kinds and offers services within and outside its own organisation. As a public charitable body it operates in compliance with civil law. As a Diocese of the Catholic Church it has to conform to the Gospel mission within the law of the Church.
