LAUDATO SI WEEK EVENT – EVENING TALK AND DISCUSSION ON CARE FOR OUR COMMON HOME

“There are no lasting changes without cultural changes … and there are no cultural changes without personal changes” (Laudate Deum, 70)

All are welcome to an event at Plymouth Cathedral from 6-8pm on Monday 20 May during Laudato Si week to hear from our guest speaker, John Paul de Quay about how we are called to respond to the climate crisis. John Paul is a founding member and project manager with the Ecological Conversion Group, a  charity dedicated to inspiring action on Care of Creation.

This year’s Laudato Si’ Week theme is inspired by the symbol for Season of Creation 2024, “firstfruits.” Let us be seeds of hope in our lives and our world, rooted in faith and love. We are invited to gather in community to contemplate and nurture hope for our “suffering planet” (LD 2). Laudate Deum is a reminder about the urgency of the Laudato Si’ message and the need for both personal and cultural transformation amidst our ecological and climate crises but also the importance of hope.

The evening will explore how can we come together effectively to tackle  our climate and biodiversity crises and our social problems, living out our faith and mission.  What do  we already do to help others, locally and globally and to care for our common home?  How can we respond to tPope Francis’ Encyclical letter; Laudato Si’, and care for our common home.

The evening will include a pasty supper and refreshments from 6-6.30 pm. please register here so we can plan catering or email caritas@prcdtr.org.uk for more information.
