Do you want to be a young adult representative for the Diocese of Plymouth at the national Justice and Peace conference in July 2023?

Caritas Plymouth would like to sponsor two young adult Catholics from the Diocese of Plymouth, aged 18-35, to attend the Justice and Peace Annual Conference in Derbyshire on 21-23 July 2023, to ensure that the voices of young leaders are heard and amplified. The title of the conference is ‘Sustainability? Survival or Shutdown’ which will hope to address issues crucial to the common good and the well-being of all creation.

Echoing the words of Pope Francis, all issues are interconnected, as well as environment and especially the impact of climate change, we must consider the need for just and peaceful conflict resolution, economic justice, and stability. A key issue identified at Conference 2022 was the need for truth and integrity in political and social engagement, good governance in all seats of power, local, national, and global.

We would invite applications by 19th May 2023.

Conference costs (accommodation and meals) will be included as well as reasonable transport costs.

Who we’re looking for and how to apply

We are looking for young people who are interested in the environment and have ideas about how we can encourage our parishes and communities to take action on climate change. The participants will need to report back to the Diocese on key messages from the conference and any ideas for future actions we can take. We are looking for volunteers with a variety of skills, experience and backgrounds to take part; participants must be 18-35.
