Do you want to be a young adult representative for the Diocese of Plymouth at the national Justice and Peace conference in July 2021?

As part of our focus on the environment this year, Caritas Plymouth would like to sponsor two young adult Catholics from the Diocese of Plymouth, aged 18-35, to attend the Justice and Peace Annual Conference in Derbyshire on 23-25 July 2021, to ensure that the voices of young leaders are heard and amplified. The main conference theme is Integral Ecology and Care for the Climate and how we can meet the challenges ahead. We would invite applications by 15 April 2021.

Conference costs (accommodation and meals) will be included as well as reasonable transport costs.

Canon John Deeny and Deborah Fisher (Caritas Manager) will also be attending the conference.

Who we’re looking for and how to apply

We are looking for young people who are interested in the environment and have ideas about how we can encourage our parishes and communities to take action on climate change. The participants will need to report back to the Diocese on key messages from the conference and any ideas for future actions we can take. We are looking for volunteers with a variety of skills, experience and backgrounds to take part; participants must be 18-35.

To apply click here.

All successful applicants would need to do the following:

  • Attend a pre-briefing session with other Diocesan participants.
  • Attend the Justice and Peace Conference and attend workshops and events.
  • Be willing to share experiences – this might include a blog post or sharing thoughts on social media (training and support will be provided from our Caritas team).
