World Youth Day, Lisbon 2023

As a diocese we plan to take 40 young adults (16+) to Portugal for World Youth Day. This trip will be combined with a short stay with a local host family, a pilgrimage to Fatima and a chance to join in World Youth Day activities; including Mass celebrated by Pope Francis. It is a great opportunity for our young adults to pray and worship with groups of people from around the world. The World Youth Day team anticipate around 2.5 million visitors from around the world to join in the event which will be held in and around Lisbon, in August 2023. Many who have attended before have talked about how the opportunity has developed them spiritually.

In order to encourage our young adults from all backgrounds to experience World Youth Day we are seeking sponsorship. Every little sponsorship helps, a t-shirt, a day of food, a night in a hotel, the total accommodation cost or a young person for the whole trip. The prices indicated are estimates, as we are still waiting for the prices for 2023 to be released. When we receive your sponsorship donation we will prioritise the allocation of funds to those in need for your chosen category. If we happen to receive more sponsorship donations than we need in any category, we will use them to subsidise in other categories.
