The 15th June has been designated by the United Nations General Assembly as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, to highlight the abuse and neglect of older people, helping us to act against it.  The abuse of older people is an increasing and serious problem, so it is vital to raise awareness of this.  This day focuses our attention on the need for all of us to take responsibility for preventing elder abuse in our communities.

It is estimated that 1 in 6 people have personal experience of abuse as an older person, and there are almost 2.7 million victims thought to be affected across the UK.  To find out more about elder abuse click HERE
