“Humanity’s abuse of nature requires a true conversion and invites us to change our lifestyles.”

Season of Creation begins this year on Sunday 1 September.  The Season of Creation is a time to renew our relationship with God and Creation. All parishes are encouraged to celebrate a Mass for Creation on this day and to bring people together to consider what we can do to foster stewardship of creation. Resources for parishes and individuals can be found here.

The theme this year is “Hope and Act with Creation,” drawn from Saint Paul’s Letter to the Romans (8:19-25), which focuses on the hope of salvation that is born of faith, namely, the newness of life in Christ. The Pope’s  message is in nine sections, which all highlight our responsibility to take care of our Common Home. It stresses that, as Christians called to live in faith and charity, caring for the environment is “a task to be undertaken freely, in obedience to Jesus’ commandment of love.” The Catholic Bishops Conference have shared a more in depth analysis of the message.

Caritas Diocese of Plymouth will be holding an event in Marnhull, Dorset from 6.30-9pm on Tuesday 24 September to discuss “Should Catholics be Green?”. We are delighted to be joined by Sr Margaret Atkins OSA who will lead the discussions. We would love people to come and join us. A light supper will be provided. Places are limited so please register here.
