“In old age they will still bear fruit” (Psalm 92:15)

Intergenerational linking between schools and Care Homes can be transformative. Caritas Plymouth is thrilled that schools which participated in our first intergenerational linking project in 2021-22 are continuing with their new friendships. This week the Year 5 GIFT team from the wonderful St Joseph’s RC Primary in Poole had the opportunity to meet with the residents of Richmondwood Care Home. They introduced themselves, made Easter cards, asked lots of questions and left the residents and carers with some chocolate treats galore!

Pope Francis urges us to seek out those elderly persons who feel most alone, at home or in residences where they live. ‘Expecting a visit can transform those days when we think we have nothing to look forward to; from an initial encounter, a new friendship can emerge.’  If you would like to know more about intergenerational linking please visit our website or contact caritas@prcdtr.org.uk.

Caritas Diocese of Plymouth still has some grant funding for Catholic and Catholic/CofE schools in the Diocese of Plymouth wishing to set up a new link. Please contact caritas@prcdtr.org.uk for more information and to get an application form.
