Young people at St Mary’s School in Marnhull were asked to create reflections for the second week in Lent on the theme of confession. We have included some of the images here but you will be able to see more on our website and Facebook page. This work was created by members of their GIFT Team – Gabriel, Hector, Mabel, Neri, Rosie and Rowan.
“During the second week of Lent, we think about Confession – or Reconciliation and why saying sorry and being forgiven are important. Lent is a time when we try to slow down, think about our actions, and grow closer to God.”
“I believe that God loves everyone and wants us to do our best to follow Jesus. Sometimes I make mistakes and when that happens, I don’t feel peaceful inside.”
Mrs Betts – Teacher from St Mary’s. “Reconciliation reminds me that it is important to admit when we are wrong and to try again. We celebrate Reconciliation as a sacrament, and even though many of our children in school are not Catholic, we teach them about how we can still practise forgiveness as God is loving, forgiving, and always ready to welcome us back.
Lent is a good time to think about how we treat others and how we can make better choices. As we prepare for Easter, I want us all to try harder to be kind, to say sorry when we need to, and to forgive others just like Jesus taught us to do.”

Dear God,
During this second week of Lent, we take time to think about Reconciliation.
We thank God for forgiving us when we make mistakes.
We thank Jesus for sacrificing his life for us.
Amen.
