On the Feast of St Boniface, Patron Saint of the Diocese of Plymouth, Bishop Nicholas Hudson reflects on the enduring example of this great missionary saint and his relevance for the Church today.
“It is with great pride that we commemorate today our Diocesan Patron Saint Boniface. A leading missionary of 8th-century Europe, he inspires us in the 21st century to be all the more missionary ourselves – to call people into relationship with Christ. We ask his intercession for his native Crediton and for the whole Diocese that we grow daily to become more and more the community of faith the Lord is calling us to be.”
Bishop Nicholas Hudson
A prayer for St Boniface
God Our Redeemer, Who called Your servant Boniface to preach the Gospel among the Dutch and German people and to build up Your Church in holiness, grant that we may preserve in our hearts that faith which he taught with his words and sealed with his blood, and profess it in lives dedicated to Your Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord, Who is alive and reigns with You, in the Unity of the Holy Spirit, One God, now and for ever. Amen
