GATHER CONFERENCE 2025

March 28 @ 8:00 am - March 30 @ 5:00 pm

GATHER 25 – CELEBRATING THE TEACHING OF VATICAN II

Come and share a weekend of faith, formation and friendship at the annual Gather Conference Fri 28th-Sun 30th March, Livermead Cliff Hotel, Torquay.  plymouthgather@yahoo.com

‘This year we are delighted to welcome our keynote speaker David McLoughlin. David is the Emeritus Fellow of Christian Theology at Birmingham Newman University. He has enjoyed teaching theology nationally and internationally for the last 45 years, training and resourcing Christian activists and ministers. He is a former President of the Catholic Theological Association of Great Britain.

He loves quoting St Irenaeus, the bishop of Lyons in the Second Century, who said “Gloria Dei vivens Homo! The Glory of God is a fully alive human being!” David says if theology is boring or dull it can’t be good theology!

Vatican II – Pilgrims then and now. David will open up the four great Constitutions of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) which are key to interpreting the teaching of the Council and so much of Church life in the last 60 years.

Sacrosanctum Concilium on the Sacred Liturgy, Lumen Gentium on the Church, Dei Verbum on Divine Revelation, and Gaudium et Spes on the Church in the Modern World.

David will draw out the key ideas and movements of thought that came together as 2,000 bishops from all over the world, assisted by their experts and advisors, reflected on the life of faith and discipleship in our time. This remains the greatest meeting of religious leaders in world history.’
