Vision: ‘To Live the Gospel by following Christ’s Command to love our neighbour as He loved us’

Caritas Plymouth’s Annual Review sets out what has been happening across the Diocese over the last 12 months and plans for 2020-21.  Although some plans have changed due to the Coronavirus, Caritas’ overall aims and objectives remain the same:  to be a witness to the Gospel by encouraging and supporting Catholic social action.  The aim is to support the network of charities, schools and parishes to help poor, vulnerable and marginalised people. We would welcome your feedback on the review and plans.

In recent months,we have been talking to parishes and schools about their work. We have been amazed by the wonderful actions that people are taking every day to respond to Jesus’ example and teaching. Some of that work was shared in Bishop Mark’s pastoral letter ‘Let us be like Christ. the Servant’  and via our Diocesan Facebook page. The material shared by our schools during Laudato Si’ week was particularly impressive. Who knew we grew so many vegetables!  You can read about some of the inspiring stories from across the Diocese in a  short newsletter.

The Diocese has recently developed guidance on how parishioners might support people dealing with bereavement as well as a step by step guide on community sponsorship. Both of these documents are based on the work happening in our parishes. You can find these in the Resources section of our webpage.
