Bishop Nicholas Hudson recorded a video message for our February newsletter on the theme of Lent.

“Lent we should understand as a journey, a journey of preparation. We prepare to walk with Jesus the journey that he will take at the at the end of Lent and in Holy Week from death into new life at Easter. Traditionally, we prepare for Lent in three ways. through prayer, through almsgiving, through reconciliation, through seeking a daily encounter with the Lord in prayer, through seeking to fast in order that we might share a little more of our plenty with those who have less than ourselves, and through reconciliation, reconciliation with God and and with our neighbour.

As part of our preparation, I’m offering a Station Mass in each of the Deaneries. And I hope that you might like to come and join in one of the Station Masses in your deanery. We can see it as part of our deeper preparation for Lent. And I pray that we may all of us arrive at Holy Week all the more deeply prepared to celebrate the most important week of the year together. Thank you. God bless you.”
