Holy Cross Parish, Ilfracombe: Barbara Chelsom's Pilgrimage to Fatima
A wonderful passage was sent to us from the Holy Cross Parish, Ilfracombe, written by parishioner Barbara Chelsom upon her return from her pilgrimage to Fatima. It can also be found in their Parish newsletter dated 24th July 2016, and reads as below:
MY FATIMA PILGRIMAGE
I was blessed once again to be able to join the National Pilgrimage to Fatima (Portugal) led by Rev. Gerard Kelly, our Spiritual Director.
We arrived at our hotel (the Domus Pacis) at 8:00pm for a late dinner followed by the International Rosary in the Capelinha and a candlelit procession (which takes place every evening).
The Rosary is prayed every day at 7:15am and 7:15pm in the Domus Pacis Chapel.
The week was filled with Rosary Praying, Candlelit Masses, walking tours, talks and enrolment into the Brown Scapular (Our Lady of Mount Carmel), anointing of the sick and Stations of the Cross.
Each year a Mass is celebrated at the Carmelite Convent in Coimbra where Sr. Lucia dos Santos spent most of her life. There were 2 International Masses celebrated in the Square. Blessing of the sick, consecration and farewell to our Lady of Fatima as the pilgrims waved their white handkerchiefs in sadness.
The Petitions were given to the steward standing behind the Capelinha, who placed them in a box at the foot of Our Lady of Fatima’s statue.
I am praying to keep well and to be able to join the Centenary Pilgrimage in 2017.
